Lancé depuis un peu plus d’un an dans une colossale tournée d’adieu mondiale passée en juin dernier par la France, Sir Elton John a été contraint de renoncer au dernier moment à se produire samedi 26 octobre 2019 sur la scène du Bankers Life Fieldhouse d’Indianapolis dans le cadre de son Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.
Les organisateurs ont commencé par prévenir les spectateurs que le concert était annulé pour raisons de santé, annonçant le report de cette date au 26 mars 2020 et souhaitant au passage un bon rétablissement à l’interprète de Rocket Man, chanson dont le titre a servi comme celui du biopic événement qui lui a été consacré cette année au cinéma.
Sur les réseaux sociaux, le principal intéressé s’est exprimé pour faire part de ses regrets de ne pouvoir assurer son show, deux jours après avoir assuré à Toronto : “C’est le coeur lourd que je suis obligé de vous informer que je suis extrêmement mal en point et de ce fait dans l’incapacité de me produire ce soir. Je déteste décevoir mes fans, mais je vous dois de vous proposer le meilleur spectacle possible et malheureusement ce n’est tout simplement pas possible“, a-t-il écrit en donnant rendez-vous à la date de remplacement annoncée pour une soirée sans ombre au tableau.
To my dear fans in Indianapolis, it is with the heaviest heart that I’m forced to deliver the news that I am extremely unwell and therefore unable to perform at @bankerslifefieldhouse tonight. I absolutely hate to let my fans down, but I owe it to you to put on the best #EltonFarewellTour show possible and unfortunately that’s simply not possible. Today I lost my beautiful, angelic Mother. She passed away peacefully in the middle of the night, with me and my brothers by her side. Mum radiated gentle kindness. She was utterly devoted to her family. We all richly benefitted from her patient wisdom and bountiful love. I treasure this photo of Mum and Dad on their wedding day – bursting with joy and fresh-faced optimism over their union and the life they planned to build together. They shared the greatest love I have ever known; A rock-solid foundation from which my brothers and I flourished. Rest in peace Mum. You lived your life impeccably. I will never forget you. I promise to do my best to pass the gifts you gave to me on to my own beautiful sons.
