Austin Ekeler was a fantasy stud through four weeks without Melvin Gordon playing. We all figured that Gordon’s return would knock him down a notch, and in a sense, it did. Ekeler only had three carries last week, and that would suggest his placement even in our Week 6 RB PPR rankings would fall. However, he caught 15 passes on 16 targets. Even though he didn’t get much more than five yards per catch, that’s a running back that PPR owners would love to have. Of course, there’s still a bit of uncertainty. Maybe Gordon still steals a few more snaps, and maybe the Chargers won’t be in comeback mkode every game. But man, it looks like when Ekeler is on the field, he’ll be getting thrown to.
Because of that remarkable performance, Ekeler is the highest riser in our PPR RB rankings compared to standard. He’s not alone, of course. Stalwarts like James White and surprise PPR weapon Leonard Fournette both figure higher into these rankings, too.
WEEK 6 NON-PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
Just as with standard league owners, PPR owners of Saquon Barkley will be eagerly awaiting his status for Thursday Night Football in New England. It’s not a great matchup, but as I wrote in the standard rankings, if you have Barkley and he’s playing, you’re playing him.
WEEK 6 PPR RANKINGS: Wide receiver | Tight end
Damien Williams (vs. Texans) gets a favorable PPR matchup, as Houston has allowed the most receptions to running backs this season. They have faced some of the top-tier pass-catching backs, so maybe that’s skewed, but they also have allowed nine receptions to RBs per game, so it’s not all random, either. Williams should have a good game for PPR owners. Mark Ingram (vs. Bengals) gets a great matchup all around, but Cincinnati is especially poor against receiving backs, so Ingram might find some added success there in Week 6.
There is reason to assume Todd Gurley (vs. 49ers) will have a poorer PPR week, as the Niners have allowed the fewest catches and second-fewest yards to backs. The lowest yardage allowed via the air to RBs has been by the Falcons, so although you’re not sitting David Johnson this week in any format, his PPR value may actually not live up to its usual standard.
Before we get to the rankings, Week 6 byes mean that the following players are off: David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen, Frank Gore and Devin Singletary, Josh Jacobs , and Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines.
Reminder: Check back for frequent updates during the week. For individual analysis of key RBs, check out our standard RB rankings.
