10 Montpellier supporters banned from stadiums after Toulouse turmoil

Ligue 1 witnessed another fan disorder last weekend, with the game between Toulouse and Montpellier suspended for 15 minutes on Sunday after police had to throw tear gas to restrain the aggression.

According to L’Équipe, ten Montpellier supporters were banned from stadiums following their appearance before the judge on Tuesday.

The report suggests that they were banned from entering stadiums after being found guilty of carrying firecrackers and smoke bombs in Sunday’s Occitanie derby.

One of the perpetrators was also accused of acts of “violence against a person holding public authority” during Toulouse’s 4-2 win over Montpellier.

Understood to be Toulouse supporters, three minors, aged 13, 14, and 16, have been summoned by justice against the charges of using smoke bombs. However, the investigation into Toulouse’s part in the respective disorder is still underway.

The investigators are reportedly trying to identify the culprits. Another investigation is looking into the cases of “willful violence and damage to public utility goods which were reserved at the ‘visitors’ bar.”
