Laurent Blanc heaps praise on RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku

Linked with a transfer to Chelsea, RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku has seen massive improvements in his game since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Considered one of the top young players in the world, the PSG youth graduate earned plaudits from the newly-hired Lyon manager, Laurent Blanc.

Speaking to L’Équipe, Blanc admitted that seeing Nkunku, who was coached at PSG during the pair’s time at the French capital, at the highest level made him happy. The 56-year-old said:

“I’ve worked with a lot of young players, and when I see Nkunku at this level, it makes me happy. This is a specific context, but the youngsters are talented.”

In the new 2022/23 season, the 24-year-old attacker has already scored 10 goals from 14 appearances in all competitions. Should he continue to showcase his efficiency in front of the goal, Nkunku appears to be one of the leading candidates to make the French national team squad for the upcoming World Cup.
