Monaco’s Ruben Aguilar ruled out for a few weeks

Monaco full-back Ruben Aguilar has been ruled out of action for a few weeks with an injury to his left foot, as confirmed by his manager Philippe Clement.

As reported by RMC Sport, Clement disclosed the news of Aguilar’s lengthy absence ahead of their Ligue 1 fixture against Nantes on Sunday. Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Friday, the manager said:

“Ruben has a problem with one foot. He had an inflammation that got worse. Because of this, he will be out for a few weeks.”

Monaco locked horns with Reims in their last Ligue 1 fixture before the international break. Eleven minutes into the game,  Aguilar—having sustained a knock in his left foot—got replaced by Vanderson. Elaborating on the issue, Clement added:

“We now have to look at the alternatives in this position because I don’t think Vanderson can play the 11 matches for 90 minutes until November.”

In the 2022/23 season, the 29-year-old Frenchman has made six appearances for Monaco. Earlier in the campaign, he reportedly missed the games against Rennes and Lens with a tear in the abductor’s muscle.
