Cenation is a whole lot closer to seeing its hero back on WWE TV.
John Cena essentially confirmed his return to SmackDown Live on July 4th with a tweet Tuesday. Here’s the content of the tweet:
Bittersweet day today as I begin another night in Atlanta. Such a funny movie but #SDLive @WWE is so close! 7/4 can’t get here fast enough!
WWE’s struggle with ratings has been much publicized in the past few weeks as SmackDown Live recently hit a ratings low for the year. There’s little doubt the return of Cena would bump the numbers a bit.
Current WWE Champion Jinder Mahal has spoken recently about using a rivalry with Cena to win over fans who still don’t believe he’s a worthy champion considering he was a career also-ran until the past few months. It will be interesting when Cena returns if that is in fact the storyline WWE promotes. With Kevin Owens on SmackDown now, it’s also possible Cena and KO renew their bitter feud for the US Championship.
