In 1993, A Truck Driver Got So Angry At Communal Violence That He Hijacked An Indian Airlines Plane!

Whenever we hear the word ‘Hijacked’, we associate it with terrorism. India has witnessed heart wrenching plane hijacking cases like the 1986 Neerja Bhanot case or the 1999 Indian Airline hijacking and both left in tears as many people lost their lives.

Have you ever come across a plane hijacking done with a motive to unite people? Well, most of us haven’t. But Hari Singh, a truck driver from Haryana had hijacked a Chennai bound Indian Airlines Airbus Flight IC 439 with 192 passengers and 13 crew members because he was not happy with ongoing Hindu-Muslim riots across the country. As many as 2000 people had lost their lives.
