Fantasy Injury Updates: Mark Andrews, Hunter Henry, T.J. Hockenson, more affect Week 6 TE rankings | Sporting News

There are a number of tight end injury question marks heading into Week 6. Two are in prime-time games, which is always a start ’em, sit ’em nightmare. T.J. Hockenson and Hunter Henry are both racing against the clock to make it back, but it’s hard to start them because of their late-in-the-slate games. Mark Andrews missed another Wednesday practice, but with a different injury than what’s been nagging him. And for Washington, it looks like Vernon Davis will be back in time to exploit a great matchup against the Dolphins, making the veteran a strong fantasy waiver pickup/sleeper.

Mark Andrews injury update

Andrews has been a consistent absence from Wednesday practice this season, but it’s notable that he missed this Wednesday because of a shoulder injury he sustained Sunday rather than the foot injury that’s been nagging him. The combo of injuries could make Andrews a bigger risk in Week 6. Hd did return to Thursday practice, however.

Andrews has been quiet the past three weeks, catching 12 passes for 91 yards after he caught eight passes in both of Weeks 1 and 2. He has a great matchup with the Bengals in Week 6, so you’re starting him if he’s active, but he’s less of an auto-start as he was after those big weeks.

Will Hunter Henry play Week 6?

Henry (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. He hasn’t played since Week 1, and his return to the practice field suggests that he’s no more than a week away from returning to game action. The Chargers play on Sunday night against the Steelers.

The prime-time game makes rostering Henry with the intention to play him this week a risky move, but it’s definitely time to stash him. Even with a history of knee injuries, he’s a top-10 TE when healthy.

T.J. Hockenson concussion news

We finally got a Hockenson update Wednesday after he sustained a concussion in Week 4 ahead of the Lions’ bye. He remains in concussion protocol, but he did participate in Detroit’s practice Wednesday and was a “full go” for Thursday’s practice. That suggests if he clears the protocol before Monday Night Football, he’ll play.

Like with Henry, a prime-time game makes Hockenson a risky proposition this week. Ideally, he’d clear concussion protocol in the next day and be a safe play on Monday against the Packers. If he’s active, you likely won’t be able to do much better.

Vernon Davis injury update

Davis (concussion) missed Week 5, but he was on the practice field for the Redskins on Wednesday. There hasn’t been word as to whether he’s cleared the full concussion protocol, but his return to the practice field is a positive sign.

Davis is a startable fantasy TE in Week 6 due to a matchup with the putrid Dolphins. With Case Keenum slated to return to start at QB for Washington, there’s a good potential for Redskins’ points in Miami.
