OGC Nice defender Christophe Hérelle hits out at Mario Balotelli: “On Sunday, he ran like I’ve never seen him do before.”

Speaking in a press conference today ahead of OGC Nice‘s next Ligue 1 clash against Toulouse on Friday, French central defender Christophe Hérelle was asked about his confrontation with ex-team-mate Mario Balotelli outside the dressing rooms.

This comes after fellow Nice defender Malang Sarr hit out at Super Mario in the pre-match presser last week.

“In the corridor of the Vélodrome, he told us that the coach (Patrick Vieira) better not walk out at the same time as him. I told him to shut it… He didn’t score a single goal in six months and then on Sunday, I was him run like I’ve never seen him run before. At some point, you have to respect the club, the people and the fans.”

With Rennes taking a 3-1 home victory into the second leg, this tie is sure to provoke a response from Unai Emery’s Premier League side, but Matteo Guendouzi insists that there are no favourites:

“There’s no such thing as favourites. It’s one team against another. We have to stay strong mentally. We knew that after the red card it would be very difficult, especially being away from home. Then they scored straight after that, which put us in a bit of trouble. We didn’t do what was needed in the second half. But it’s only half time in the tie and they still have to come to our place. We’re very strong at home. And I believe in my team, my club and our staff.”
