Via 90 Football, as reported by L’Équipe, Ligue 1 club Montpellier are in advanced discussions to sign Saint-Étienne’s soon-to-be out of contract Tunisian international striker Wahbi Khazri after Les Verts were relegated following a playoff defeat to Auxerre last month.
The 31-year-old is close to an agreement with MHSC but it’s not yet certain if his signing will be dependant on the sales of other forwards, with the club hoping to get a sizeable fee for English striker Stephy Mavididi who has reportedly asked to leave for the Premier League this summer.

Khazri, Saint-Étienne’s talisman and only semi-reliable source of goals for much of the season before fitness issues troubled him after Christmas, has also been interesting OGC Nice, Lille and Marseille too while contacts have also been made with Italian clubs. Khazri has already turned down an offer a Saudi Arabian club this summer after 37 goals in 114 games for Les Verts.
