The Athletic are reporting that Chelsea are set to hire AS Monaco technical director Laurence Stewart, with an agreement between the clubs already in place.
Stewart will form part of a “revamped set-up” at Chelsea as new owner Todd Boehly arranges the furniture at his recently acquired club. The American businessman has already stated a desire to implement a multi-club model, something that Stewart is used to from his time in the Red Bull set-up.
At Monaco, a club he joined two years ago, he has also been working in a multi-club set-up. Belgian side Cercle Bruges are also owned by Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, and players frequently move between the two clubs.
Stewart is part of an English backroom set-up at Monaco, which also includes sporting director Paul Mitchell, who has previously been linked with making a similar switch to Stamford Bridge. The London club are yet to make an appointment in that area.
Sources contacted by Get French Football News confirm that Laurence Stewart will join Chelsea and that his departure from Monaco should be made official today.
