Punishment Martinez signed with WWE back in 2018. Over the past few months, he has been wrestling mostly dark matches at TV tapings and at NXT live events.
It turns out that Punishment Martinez is being rebranded in NXT.
In an interview with the Sports Business Journal, it was revealed that he will now be known as ‘Damien Priest’. Here is an excerpt from the article about his new character:
“Sometimes the ideas involve just turning up the volume on who the person really is. Such was the case with Luis Martinez, a veteran in the ring who has long performed as Punishment Martinez. He’s now being rebranded as Damien Priest, an even darker character. That means new outfits, new entrance music and a new persona. Martinez thinks it’s a perfect fit”
