WWE to Be Heavily Promoted During NFL & MLB Games?
Following today’s huge announcement that WWE is expected to sign a five-year deal with FOX which would bring Smackdown to the Network in a Friday night time slot in October 2019, The Hollywood Reporter released a new article providing more deal details.
Of note in the report is the promise by FOX to heavily promote Smackdown on its other sports programming such as The NFL and Major League Baseball.
“WWE is said to have had an even higher bid from a third party – and enthusiastic interest overall”, the report notes. “But WWE executives are said to have embraced Fox’s commitment to heavily promote SmackDown across a robust sports portfolio that includes the NFL and Major League Baseball.”
FOX recently inked a deal to carry Thursday Night Football for five seasons, in addition to their regular Sunday NFL programming, through 2022, and their current deal with Major League Baseball runs through 2021.
