Matt Riddle has commented on his loss to The Velveteen Dream. That loss came at NXT Takeover: New York in a match for Dream’s North American Championship.
The King of Bros came very close to winning the gold but he was unable to seal the deal. Riddle talked about his disappointment following the match.
“I was literally this close to beating The Dream and the guy’s crafty. There’s a reason why he has the title and he is where he is and he got me tonight. Do I think he’ll get me next time? No. But I don’t know when my next opportunity will be.”
Riddle was indeed on the verge of winning and that win would have given him his first taste of gold in NXT. Now that he’s lost, it’s unclear where he will go next or if he will indeed challenge The Velveteen Dream once again.
Many fans predicted that The Velveteen Dream would join WWE’s main roster sooner rather than later. But now that he’s retained the title, it’s unlikely that move will happen any time soon. As for Riddle, he’s still one of the most popular Superstars in NXT and his loss at Takeover will surely not change that.
