EVOLVE Wrestling recently posted a video preview of the upcoming championship match between Austin Theory and NXT Superstar Kyle O’Reilly.
The preview includes clips from past EVOLVE shows, where O’Reilly’s Undisputed Era partner Adam Cole had a physical confrontation with Theory. The brash and cocky EVOLVE champion said there was no more competition for him in the lock room so he decided to look elsewhere, even mentioning Kyle by name.
O’Reilly answered that challenge and now the two men are set to clash at EVOLVE 25 in Queens, New York on April 4. That event comes during WrestleMania weekend, which features pro wrestling shows from companies all over the world.
EVOLVE Wrestling and WWE have had a working agreement since 2015. Former EVOLVE stars The Street Profits are currently signed with NXT and the same is true of Shane Strickland, who recently signed with the black and gold brand as well.
The agreement between EVOLVE and WWE also obviously gives EVOLVE access to certain NXT Superstars. Cole, former EVOLVE star Johnny Gargano and The Velveteen Dream have all recently appeared at live events for the company.
