The Giants hired veteran scout Steven Price as their pro personnel manager on Monday to headline several front office title changes.
Most prominently, Mark Koncz and Tim McDonnell are now listed as co-directors of player personnel.
Koncz had been director of player personnel the past three seasons. McDonnell, nephew to co-owner John Mara, had been assistant director of player personnel the past two years.
Price spent the past three years as a Houston Texans pro scout. Prior to that, he worked eight years for the Minnesota Vikings as a college, pro and BLESTO scout. He also worked more than six years for the Carolina Panthers earlier in his career.
Price was a free agent due to the Texans’ organizational turnover after the 2020 season.
Typically, the pro personnel manager is responsible for scouting the Giants’ upcoming opponent and presenting weekly reports to the coaching staff, as well as continually evaluating NFL personnel, including active players and free agents.
Ken Sternfeld, the club’s director of pro personnel the past nine seasons, is now listed as a senior pro personnel executive. Tim Shauger, assistant director of pro personnel the past eight seasons, is now a senior scout and football systems analyst in pro personnel.
These front office moves follow the Giants’ hiring of former Lions VP of player personnel Kyle O’Brien in March as a senior personnel executive in college scouting. O’Brien was heavily involved in the Giants’ pre-draft process.
