Daniel Jones should lace ‘em up with some extra motivation to shut up the haters on Week 8’s Monday Night Football visit to the Chiefs.
Kansas City mocked Jones’ infamous, Week 7 open-field faceplant in Philadelphia with its schedule release announcement on Wednesday.
The Chiefs revealed their home schedule with an illustration of Patrick Mahomes grilling in the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot, surrounded by players from their visiting foes.
The photo poked fun at other players, too, like the Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott, who wore a prize ribbon that read: “Texas BBQ: Not as good as KC BBQ.”
But the funniest and most direct shade was thrown at Jones, who is standing in full uniform and eating an enormous slice of pizza with his shoelaces tied together.
Jones tumbled last October at the Eagles’ 8-yard line on an 80-yard run at Lincoln Financial Field that should have been a touchdown. Jones was gone, with no one near him or front of him but still was tripped up by the turf monster.
The Giants scored a touchdown later on that third-quarter drive, but they lost the game, and Jones’ embarrassing fall became a poster highlight for the futility of both the Giants and the NFC East.
No doubt it will be difficult for Jones to live down. He can start, however, by shutting up the mighty Chiefs on national television this fall.
