Greetings and salutations, boys and girls, and welcome to the first Rajah main page installment of the most prestigious countdown list of the year, the Rajah Forums Countdown of WWE’s Best Matches of 2014!
Now, many of you have never visited the forums that are connected to this wonderful haven of news and features before, and so you might be unfamiliar with this countdown. The idea is that at the end of the year, dozens of Rajah forum members submitted lists of the WWE matches that they thought were the best. After an exhaustive process of averaging and general mathiness, a top 25 list was composed and over the course of the next few weeks, it will be revealed one match at a time.
If you agree or disagree with the matches on this list, or just wish to give your thoughts on them in a rad place full of skateboarding dinosaurs and charming secret agents, then hop on down to the Rajah Forums, make yourself an account and join the party.
Now let’s get on with the next installment of the countdown…
The Shield(Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns) vs. The Wyatt Family(Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan)
Main Event 4/08
The third instalment of the Wyatts/Shield rivalry came on Main Event. As a result, it probably generated the least discussion of the four matches they had between February and May. Whilst it’s not as heated as their first two battles, it is a more than worthy addition to the feud and and an important match for The Shield.
This one is all about Dean Ambrose. The match begins with him slapping the sheep mask off of Erick Rowan’s face and taking it to the big man like a man possessed. The second time he tags in he’s not so successful and The Wyatts take control and dominate him for a long stretch. Ambrose gets absolutely pounded and sells the beating superbly. He flops about for Harper and Rowan’s offense and literally scratches and claws his way out of their holds but every time he thinks he’s free they cut him off. When Rollins comes in to break up a pinfall attempt the inevitable occurs and the match completely breaks down, apparently leaving Bray to finish Ambrose off for good. Ambrose is able to escape a Sister Abigail attempt at the last second and fight his way out, making the hot tag to Rollins and allowing the Shield to get back into the match. Ambrose ends up finishing off Rowan with the Dirty Deeds after a chaotic last few minutes and the Shield get what would be their first and only win over The Wyatts. From here they would move into a main event programme with Evolution that put all three over huge. But less than a month after this victory they would be no more as a unit.
