Symone Sanders: When Trump gave his victory speech, I wanted to throw up in my mouth

Symone Sanders greeted a hectic Election Day with a show of unity. “I was like, ‘I’m going to throw on a pantsuit for Hillary,’ ” Sanders said. 

“Lots of people were wearing pantsuits that day. But as she sat later that night in front of a 200-person live studio audience as part of BET’s election coverage, that confidence evaporated. 

“We go to commercial break and someone in the crowd says, ‘What is happening?’ And I said, ‘Well, it looks like millions of Americans have voted for misogyny, racism, a little bit of nationalism, sprinkled in with some economics.’ ” 

Sanders added that as the night wore on, it began to resemble an episode of “The Twilight Zone.”

To her, Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s brief call at the end of the night for supporters at Clinton’s victory party to go home solidified that “nothing will be normal again for a really long time.” 

And when Trump came out to give his victory speech, Sanders said she wanted to “throw up” in her mouth.
