Earlier this year, WWE produced a brand new series on the YouTube channel. The short-form series Southpaw Regional Wrestling was made as a parody of the traditional former days of wrestling territories. WWE released four episodes that featured John Cena, Chris Jericho, Rusev, Fandango, Tyler Breeze, among others in the show. It was believed to be a joke that WWE performers did backstage, but then decided to put on YouTube for everybody to see.The series was widely praised by wrestling fans, and it looks like the show is going to continue producing more episodes. More episodes of the show are allegedly underway right now.
PWInsider came out with a report that said WWE was currently filming new episodes for the show. It looks like some more roster members are getting in on the fun as well, with Seth Rollins, The New Day, Rhyno, and more all reportedly joining the cast. Breezango appeared as their Southpaw Regional Wrestling characters for an autograph signing at WWE Fan Axxess earlier this year, and the characters were warmly received by those in attendance. WWE is also reportedly deciding whether or not they should be producing more Southpaw-related merchandise. If you’re interested in checking out the series, the first four episodes of the show are up on WWE’s YouTube channel for free right now.
This past week, former superstars Sharmell, Candice Michelle, Lillian Garcia, and a few others were backstage at the Staples Center for Monday Night Raw. Apparently, former WWE star Lisa Marie Varon (better known as Victoria) also attempted to get into the Smackdown show this week, but for whatever reason, she was denied entry into the arena. Varon worked in both WWE and TNA for several years, so it seems strange that she wouldn’t be allowed in the building. Hopefully, it was just a small error that will be corrected the next time. Victoria wrote the following on Twitter:
The WWE Women’s Ladder match was incredible. Wanted to congratulate the gals, but the office said that I couldn’t go back stage.
