Kenny Omega and Xavier Woods to Face Off Soon, Andews Injured

An interpromotional match between WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling is set to take place soon… well, sort of. It is no secret that WWE’s Xavier Woods and NJPW’s Kenny Omega are massive gamers. The two wrestling superstars will be facing each other next week when they compete in a game of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition during the E3 video game expo next week. Woods and Omega have actually played against each other on a number of different occasions now, but this will apparently be the game to settle their feud for good. WWE even posted an article about the upcoming fight on their website. The longest reigning tag team champion in WWE history will play against the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion at E3 on June 14th.

As if the battle between Kenny Omega and Xavier Woods was not enough for the event this week, it looks like both of their stablemates are not getting in on the action as well. UpUpDownDown later announced that Kofi Kingston and Big E would be joining Xavier Woods when he fights against Kenny Omega. It was also mentioned that Omega will also be joined by Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks. This competition does technically guarantee that The New Day and The Elite will be competing against each other at the expo. It may all just be fun and games right now, but perhaps one day these two groups will be able to compete against each other in the wrestling ring.

WWE’s plans for their United Kingdom division of wrestlers is finally beginning to take shape. With a United Kingdom Championship Tournament taking place on the WWE Network soon, and with the NXT and UK WWE brands currently competing in the Download Music Festival, it looks like it is just a matter of time before a weekly series from the country is announced by the company. Unfortunately, 205 Live’s Mark Andrews will not be able to partake in any of the upcoming festivities. Andrews confirmed that he is dealing with an elbow injury that will prevent him from competing at the Download Festival. There is no word on how severe Mark Andrews’ elbow injury may be at the moment.

Disappointed to say I won’t be at @DownloadFest for @WWENXT this weekend due to an elbow injury.
Have a great time if you’re going, and make sure to check out the NXT tent throughout the weekend!
