James Gunn was responsible for directing the hugely successful “Guardians of the Galaxy” films for Marvel Studios, but after controversial tweets from the director’s past were brought up recently, Marvel and Disney decided to let him go. The decision has sparked backlash from fans, and even the actors from the films have all voiced their support for Gunn to be rehired and forgiven for his mistakes. Former WWE Champion Batista, who plays Drax the Destroyer in the films, has made his stance on the matter perfectly clear. Batista has just promised to finish his “legally obligated” commitments with Marvel, but he will not continue to perform the role without Gunn’s guidance. He doubled down on those claims in an interview with Shortlist.com, explaining, “Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

Former NXT Champion Aleister Black has been in the news lately due to a reported injury that he suffered recently. Black’s status for the upcoming NXT Takeover: Brooklyn show on the night before SummerSlam in two weeks is being questioned, and in a new update provided by Dave Meltzer on F4WOnline, Black’s injury may be much worse than originally expected. Although it was originally reported that Black was dealt with a pulled groin injury during an NXT live event a few days ago, Meltzer simply claimed that the injury is a bit more devastating than that. As of right now, WWE has not pulled Black from the Takeover event, but an official announcement from the company could still very well be on the way soon.
SmackDown tonight will be taking place in the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, and the show already features a couple of noteworthy matches and segments, including the finals of a tag team tournament that will decide the opponents for The Bludgeon Brothers at SummerSlam. SmackDown General Manager Paige announced another match that will be taking place during tonight’s show on Twitter this past Monday. According to the former Divas Champion, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce will be facing Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch in a tag team match. Given that Lynch and Flair will be facing each other in a match also involving Carmella at SummerSlam, perhaps The IIconics can pull off a win, but fans will have to wait until tonight’s show in order to find out for sure.
