Yesterday, the rumors about a potential new promotion headed by the members of The Elite were kicked back into full force after numerous trademarks and artwork concepts for the supposed new promotion were discovered online. All Elite Wrestling is reportedly being created by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks right now, and other rumors claim that Tony Khan of the billionaire Khan family will be backing the promotion financially. However, when the news about the new promotion was originally reported, it was mentioned that Chris Jericho and Jim Ross were two of the co-founders for AEW, and that the two of them would be heavily involved in both launching the upstart promotion and signing talent.
While it certainly appears as if All Elite Wrestling is on the way, a new update is suggesting that Ross and Jericho’s involvement has been overblown. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the launch of AEW is strictly being handled by Cody and The Bucks. Jericho and Ross may join the promotion as members of the roster, but that would be the extent of their involvement. Both Ross and Jericho denied that they would be launching a new promotion when the new originally broke, and it now appears that they are truly not working with The Elite on this ambitious new project. The new promotion still has yet to be officially announced by any of the members of The Elite, but it seems inevitable for the near future at this point.
After weeks of waiting and speculating, the time to crown the first-ever NXT UK Women’s Champion is almost here. A tournament has been taking place on NXT UK lately to determine which two women will square off in the finals for the brand new title, and on yesterday’s edition of the show, the two finalists were finally declared. Rhea Ripley was able to defeat Dakota Kai in the semifinals. Later on in the show, 2018 Mae Young Classic winner Toni Storm beat Jinny to earn her spot in the finals. The first NXT UK Women’s Champion will now either be Ripley or Storm. The finals for the tournament were taped several weeks back, but for those hoping to avoid spoilers, the new champion will be revealed during next week’s NXT UK show.
