GREENLAND, NH — A Massachusetts teenager said he drove as fast as 116 mph Saturday morning to make a camping trip early, according to New Hampshire State Police. Cullen Gaudette (pictured), 18, of Hull, was stopped by a state trooper who clocked him traveling well in excess of the 65 mph speed limit on Interstate 95 in Greenland, police said.

Gaudette was driving a Honda Accord.

“When asked why he was traveling at that speed, Gaudette stated that he was trying to get to a camping outing early,” state police said in a statement.

Gaudette was scheduled for an arraignment September 10 in Portsmouth District Court.

Earlier this month, state police charged two other drivers with driving 109 mph and 107 mph, respectively, on Interstate 93.
