Zac Zac Posen RTW Fall 2019

Zac Posen’s philosophy for his secondary line was simple and direct: focus on evening attire at affordable prices that could easily sit with his main line. He’s found a sweet spot in offering youthful takes on eveningwear that works for a number of occasions.

“I had a moment this weekend when I was alone here working on Met Gala stuff and Oscars stuff, this collection happened to be on racks with our main collection and they flowed really well, and I really had that moment where I was like, we could totally just integrate this,” he mused during the look book shoot.

There was variety in his offering that spoke to a lot of different tastes. Traditionalists might be drawn to the flowiness of an asymmetrically draped Halston-esque gown or the sparkle of a velvet flock, while girls with more casual inclinations could opt for fringed separates or a novelty bomber jacket cut in a floral jacquard.

He upped the fashion quotient with some dramatic points: a strapless golden jacquard gown had depth and texture while a silvery satin number was draped with a clean, modernist élan. Posen jokingly referred to a group of metallics as “jersey prairie disco dresses,” while a shimmering counterpart in the form of a single-sleeve turquoise velvet devoré gown struck a balance of classic and modern.

“We’re seeing really big growth with our domestic partners, which is really exciting and confident building,” he noted.
