Sen. Sherrod Brown will visit all four early presidential primary and caucus states in a tour starting later this month as he considers a bid for the White House.
Brown will tour Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina, he said Tuesday evening during an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes. His first stop will be in Iowa on Jan. 31.
Brown is calling his trips the “Dignity of Work” tour, touting his 2018 campaign motto that he has repurposed into a potential presidential slogan emphasizing aid for the working class.
If Brown runs, people with knowledge of his plans expect his chief of staff, Sarah Benzing, to run the campaign and Justin Barasky, who managed his 2018 reelection campaign, to hold a senior role. Brown’s political team has been gathering resumes for potential campaign staffers.
“Dignity of work means hard work should pay off for everyone, no matter who you are or what kind of work you do. … It’s what I fight for everyday representing the people of Ohio and it’s what we will fight for together on this tour around the country," Brown said in a statement.
