Fantasy Injury Updates: Case Keenum, Devin Singletary, Damien Williams, more Week 4 rankings impact | Sporting News

Fantasy football RB rankings aren’t in as much flux as last week, but Week 4 still presents some injuries to watch as we get closer to Sunday. Damien Williams (and LeSean McCoy) matter for a number of reasons in the Kansas City backfield, including whether Darrel Williams will be a sleeper this week. Fantasy owners are also looking for updates on Devin Singletary’s health in Buffalo and Rashaad Penny’s in Seattle. Over at quarterback, potential sleeper Case Keenum missed Redskins practice earlier in the week and could be “questionable” for a favorable matchup against the Giants.

Case Keenum injury update

Keenum was listed as a ‘Did not participate’ for the Redskins’ Wednesday walkthrough. Reports on Wednesday indicated that Keenum was in a walking boot. Jay Gruden did tell reporters Wednesday that Keenum is still the starter despite rookie Dwayne Haskins waiting in the wings. Keenum resumed practicing Thursday.

Keenum’s status is interesting because he makes for a good Week 4 sleeper against the Giants. DFS lineups could include Keenum as a cheap play to pay up elsewhere, so his health will be worth monitoring heading toward Sunday. For now, he looks to be fine, which is also good news for WRs Terry McLaurin and Paul Richardson.

Is Devin Singletary playing Week 4?

The Bills’ rookie sat out practice Wednesday, but he was back on the practice field Thursday for Buffalo ahead of a Sunday meeting with the Patriots. Singletary left the Bills’ Week 2 game with a hamstring injury and missed Week 3.

The Patriots are a tough matchup for any Buffalo RB, be it Singletary or Frank Gore. If both play, Singletary’s big-play ability gives him FLEX value, but Gore will be a TD-or-bust flier. If Singletary is out, Gore makes for a low-ceiling FLEX based on volume.

Will Damien Williams play Week 4?

Williams missed out on the Chiefs’ Week 3 win because of a knee injury. He was ruled out Friday, suggesting he wasn’t all that close to being active, and he didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday leading up to Kansas City’s Week 4 game against Detroit.

LeSean McCoy missed the conclusion of Sunday’s game, too, after aggravating his ankle injury. This is a backfield that will be good for fantasy owners, but the question remains which RB will be healthy. Darrel Williams stands the most to gain after leading the backfield in snaps and yardage in Week 3. He would be a FLEX consideration if at least one of the backs ahead of him is out.

Rashaad Penny injury update

Penny injured his hamstring in last Friday’s walkthrough and missed Week 3. He didn’t participate in Wednesday’s practice for the Seahawks and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Arizona.

Chris Carson’s fumbling issues have his job in jeopardy, so a recovery by Penny in time to play would give him a chance to claim a bigger role. Carson is still a fantasy starter for this week if Penny is absent, though. If Penny is active, consider both risky FLEX options.
