Week 3 Fantasy PPR RB Rankings | Sporting News

It’s been a slow start for some of fantasy football’s normally reliable receiving backs. Jalen Richard barely plays, Nyheim Hines has 31 total yards through two games, and Dion Lewis has even fewer (27). James White is still the best “receiving back”, with Tarik Cohen, Chris Thompson, and Duke Johnson behind him, but for the most part, the best PPR plays are pretty much the top standard plays (Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, etc.), which is why the top of our Week 3 fantasy RB PPR rankings don’t feature many surprises — and why your start ’em, sit ’em decisions really aren’t all that tough.

A few guys have begun to ascend up the PPR rankings thanks to their receiving prowess — namely, Austin Ekeler (vs. Texans), Chris Carson (vs. Saints), and, surprisingly, Leonard Fournette (vs. Titans). Carson might be about to tumble back down because of fumbling issues and Fournette is still a blah play because he isn’t really producing as a runner, but it’s nice to see these guys more involved in their respective teams’ receiving games.

WEEK 3 NON-PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

A few more backs look like they’re turning into more classic “PPR backs”, though for some it’s not actually a good thing. Phillip Lindsay (@ Packers), Damien Williams (vs. Ravens), and Kenyan Drake (@ Cowboys) all get a decent number of carries, but they’re locked in committee battles that limit their ceilings. Devin Singletary (vs. Bengals) might also be in that group, though he’s working through a hamstring injury and still fighting for more playing time, so it’s too early to say how his usage will evolve going forward.

WEEK 3 PPR RANKINGS: Wide receiver | Tight end

Dare Ogunbowale (vs. Giants) and Jamaal Williams (vs. Broncos) both have PPR upside, but, again, they just don’t quite do enough running the ball to merit consideration — at least until we get into the bye weeks. They’re about the closest we have to “PPR breakouts”, though, so don’t overthink things if you’re playing in half-point or full-point PPR formats.

Reminder: Check back for frequent updates during the week.
