Denver’s receiving corps has taken a hit.
Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick broke his left hand during his team’s 24-16 loss to Oakland on Monday, according to 9News .
He will need surgery and will likely miss 6-8 weeks, the report says. Given his projected recovery time, Denver could consider moving him to the injured reserve.
Patrick, 25, is in his second season with the Broncos and earned a roster spot last year after going undrafted out of Utah in 2017. He notched 23 receptions for 315 yards and a score in 2018.
While he hasn’t stuffed the stat sheet during his time with the team, his absence makes the Broncos’ lack of wideout depth apparent.
Denver still has great talent in Emmanuel Sanders and Courtland Sutton, but its depth chart is filled with inexperienced receivers behind those two.
The Broncos will face the Bears and their fearsome defense in Week 2 at Mile High Stadium.
