Some guys need to spend a little time on BigSoccer before signing on the dotted line.
Take former Hartlepool striker DAVID FOLEY who is joining USSF 2 Puerto Rico:
"Pre-season starts on March 15 and the season starts in April. They play in the US League, which is one below the MLS. They are one of the favourites for promotion this year."
Welcome to the US league, Dave. Hope that promotion thing works out for you.
In case you missed it, here's Freddy and the GAM doing some good stuff over the weekend:
Another possibly westward-bound hitter, FORMER BLACKBURN, ARSENAL AND MAN CITY PLAYER Paul Dickov, is once again working out with Toronto FC.
He spurned the Reds two years ago for a deal with Leicester City, who loaned him out to Derby County last summer. The Rams sent him back to Walkers Stadium in January, and he was released February 1. He then failed a trial with Leeds and now has skulked back over here.
Back when the league was originally designed, picking up unemployed 37 year old has-beens who are desperate for a few last paychecks was the kind of thing everyone assured us would never, ever happen.
Lets hope it stays that way.
There are of course some serious logistics involved, depending on where you live, but THESE GUYS ARE DOING A REALLY NICE THING and if there's any way you can get a ball or two (or ten) to them in Berea, Ohio, I can vouch for the fact that they'll end up in the right hands.
Sending soccer balls to Haitian kids right now is such a splendid idea I can't imagine why nobody else thought of it.
If you can, help these guys out.
Of course you probably won't want to bother slapping your name all over the things to make sure that everyone knows what a great person you are.
JACK WARNER on the other hand, is sending some JACK WARNER supplies to Hiti with JACK WARNER written all over them.
That leaves aside, of course, the fact that you and I are most likely providing the money, through CONCACAF, but that's not important: what IS important is that when that stuff gets down there everyone will know it came from JACK WARNER and I know we'll all feel better about it.
"The rumors are flying" according to someone who's helping said rumors get aloft, that SEATTLE SOUNDERS ARE CLOSE TO SIGNING Swiss international Blaise Nkufo, currently of FC Twente, where he has 109 goals in 203 appearances.
I can't wait until they run out of the fat pile of money MLS gave them to get started up with and they're then forced to live on the same budget as everyone else.
Then, without comment, I hereby offer – well frankly, I don't know WHAT in the hell this is:
