Jean-Victor Makengo has officially joined OGC Nice from SM Caen for a fee believed to be around the £800,000 mark.
The 18-year-old has featured heavily this season for Caen, playing 20 games in all competitions, scoring twice. The young midfielder has come through the youth system at the club and leaves the club after just 31 appearances in two years.
Described as a young and powerful midfielder, Makengo joins a club who are targeting young players for a strong future, with this philosophy being key to the 18-year-olds decision to move.
“It’s weird to leave Caen, because it’s home, but I am really happy to join Nice. The club has offered me the right project. It has conquered me. Beyond the 33rd place of last season, the team really proposes a beautiful game: It’s technical, there is movement, the team plays forward.”
Nice Matin report that Les Aiglons have included a €50m release clause in the deal.
