L’Équipe report this morning that Arsenal will look to AS Monaco’s attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar should Alexis Sanchez leave the club this month.
Arsène Wenger made a series of offers for Lemar last summer, from between €40m and €100m, the latter being his final bid on transfer deadline day.
At the beginning of September, Wenger confirmed that he was interested in coming back for the player in future transfer windows. Initially, he was thinking more about making a deal next summer.
However, since then, things have changed. Monaco have been eliminated from European competition and could accept to negotiate his departure this January. The player has shown no sign of signing a contract extension with Monaco, with his current deal expiring in 2020. ASM realise that they could make more money off of selling the French international this month.
