L’Équipe report that in parallel with discussions with Villarreal for Cameroonian forward Karl Toko Ekambi, Lyon have registered an interest in Canadian international attacker Jonathan David, who turns 20 tomorrow.
The Gent player notably scored a double against OL’s fierce rivals St Étienne in the Europa League group stage earlier this season, but a deal would appear complicated as he is on absolute fire in Belgium: with 9 goals, and 7 assists in 19 appearances. A transfer would likely cost more than €20m.
Under contract until 2023, David is being watched closely by Ajax and FC Porto as well in particular.
