MLS side Chicago Fire have tonight announced the signing of Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri from Lyon, pending international clearance.
The former Bayern Munich and Liverpool man joins on a contract running until the 2024 season, in a transfer that sees Lyon receive €7m.
The 30-year-old leave Ligue 1 after a mixed six-month spell after arriving from Liverpool for €6m, although he nevertheless leaves on a high after a match-winning performance against Marseille – a goal and an assist – last week.
