As reported by Foot Mercato, in speaking with the Italian media, Ludovic Deléchat, the agent of former Marseille and France forward Florian Thauvin explained that the now 29-year-old player chose to move to Mexican club Tigres over various high profile European clubs as a life style choice, rather than a career decision. Deléchat elaborated:
“After years in Marseille, his contract was coming to an end and OM wanted to renew it. There were discussions with Pablo Longoria, the president, then interest from big clubs like AC Milan, Atalanta, Roma, Atlético de Madrid, Manchester City, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Lyon towards the end. [Current Tigres teammate] André-Pierre Gignac was a friend of his, they played together, they were very close and Gignac presented him with this opportunity. The club was well convinced by the player, they pushed hard at the end of April 2021. He made a life choice, he really liked the idea.”
