Le Parisien report tonight that Paris Saint-Germain and Mauricio Pochettino have reached an agreement to terminate the Argentine’s contract, with one year left on his deal.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager’s departure is set to be completed this week, as he leaves after a disappointing 18 months in charge which nevertheless culminated in a Ligue 1 title.
The final details will be ironed out either tomorrow or on Thursday, although it remains to be seen when the official announcement will come.
Pochettino’s future has not been in doubt for a while, even before the arrival of Luis Campos as sporting adviser in the wake of Kylian Mbappé’s contract extension. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi made the decision as part of the overhaul in the club’s management this summer.
The 50-year-old will be paid between €15m and €20m for his contract to be terminated a year early, as he now looks towards a potential return to England,
Les Parisiens are now looking to bring in a replacement for the former defender on a two or three-year deal. Campos’ favourite is Christophe Galtier, with the Nice manager set to leave in the midst of his falling out with Julien Fournier. The former Lille coach is keen on joining. Zinédine Zidane, on the other hand, does not appear to be interested, as he has his eye on the France job instead.
