Zinedine Zidane out of the running for PSG post

RMC are reporting that after weeks of speculation, Zinedine Zidane will not be replacing Mauricio Pochettino on the sidelines at the Parc des Princes this summer, although nothing is ruled out for the future.

Former Real Madrid manager Zidane’s objective remains the French national team job, which he hopes to take after this year’s World Cup in Qatar. Although he doesn’t wish to “predict the future of Didier Deschamps,” Zidane would of course be a strong candidate for the job.

Speaking to Téléfoot on Sunday, Zidane confirmed his ambition to remain in coaching, even if he hasn’t coached since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. However, he will not return to management at PSG. Zidane was “highly courted by the Qatari owners,” but despite offering the World Cup winner a “large margin for maneuver in the entire sporting management of the club,” Zidane is staying true to his objective of becoming manager of Les Bleus.

RMC did add, however, that “everything is open in the future,” meaning that Zidane could, in the future, take up the role on the sideline at the Parisian club.

With Zidane out of the race, it now looks highly likely that Christophe Galtier, with whom new sporting adviser Luis Campos worked at Lille, will make the move from Nice to PSG.
