Lyon lost 5-0 to Willem II in a pre-season friendly on Saturday. Speaking to OL TV post-match, manager Peter Bosz was frank and damming in his assessment of the side’s performance.
He said, “You can’t lose 5-0 against a team like Willem II, but this defeat is deserved. We were very bad, we played badly. Today, the objective was to play the 90 minutes, but when you are already losing 3-0 at half-time, you need to have some pride to push and get back into it in the second half. That was not the case.”
He continued, “It was an issue of desire and state of mind. Today, Willem II’s players really wanted to win. Tomorrow, we will see a different Olympique Lyonnais to the one we saw today.”
Bosz’s men face Feyenoord tomorrow in their pre-season tour of the Netherlands. The club will also play Inter Milan before beginning their Ligue 1 campaign against Ajaccio on 5th August.
