Foot Mercato report today that Lorient striker Adrian Grbić could be set to leave Brittany this month, with two Ligue 2 clubs interested, but it’s second-tier Spanish side Leganés appear to be leading the race for his signing.
Les Merlus have impressed so far this season and for long stretches of the autumn sat second only to Paris Saint-Germain, but the Austrian inernational has only had a bit-part role to play in that, having only registered two substitute appearances. He scored his first goal of the season in the team’s first Coupe de France match of the campaign last week, against La Châtaigneraie.
Having joined in 2020 from Clermont – where he found the net 17 times in his Ligue 2 campaign with them – Grbić has failed to make an impact for Lorient, and could now be set to go out on loan south of the Pyrenees until the end of the season. The Madrid suburbs-based club had already made a move to try and bring him in at the end of the last summer transfer window.
